Meet week reminders and home meet countdown: 10 days!

Apparently the weather is never going to let up!  I hope everyone is staying warm ;)

With a few more meets left in the season, here are a couple reminders:

  • Your daughter MUST attend all 3 practices during a meet week in order to compete
  • If she cannot make it to one of her schedules practice days, a coach must be contacted asap in order to make other arrangements.  You cannot just assume that your daughter can come another day
  • At meets, ALL gymnasts must stay for the entire meet, including AWARDS (team and individual) unless cleared with a coach prior to the day of competition.  We had multiple families leave after individual awards on Sunday.

Our home meet is only 10 days away!  Sign up genius e-mails went out in order for you to sign up to volunteer.  Every family is required to participate both on Friday night and Saturday.

Below is the schedule for the Great Miami Valley Meet this SUNDAY.  Make sure you know when your daughter has to be there:)

We survived a meet without Coach Kristin!

The Monarchs did awesome yesterday at the Sidney Shelby meet yesterday!  We survived (barely!) even with Kristin being out of town;)  Only a few more meets left until districts!  Keep working hard in the gym!
  • Level 3's placed 2nd as a team!
  • Level 4's placed 3rd as a team!
  • Level 5's placed 2nd as a team!

We also had a very successful decorating party on Saturday!  (Hopefully the parents also had a successful parent meeting... we were trying to be quiet,  I promise;)  It was a good time for all of the girls to get together since all they all practice on different times/days now :)

Our home meet is right around the corner so make sure you stay up to date with everything that is happening in preparation for the meet!  A sign up genius went out for food donations.  Make sure you check it out and sign up to bring something if you haven't already:)

Welcome Kira, Sarah, and Maddie!

Our team is the biggest it's ever been and it continues to grow.  A few weeks ago we welcomed Kira, a level 8 from CGA to our team.  Since then, we have had 2 more people join.  Maddie Carney is probably a familiar face for many of you.  She competed with us a couple of years ago and has decided to come back. Sarah Schaefer is also going to join the team as a first time Monarch.  She joined pre-team last year and was more than ready to move up to team.  She will be competing the remainder of the season with us as a level 3.  If you see any of these gymnasts or their parents around the gym, say hi and introduce yourself!

Important dates to remember:

2014!

Hopefully everyone had a good break and enjoyed their extra "cold" days off school :) We're back in the gym and getting ready for the second half of the competition season.  This weekend our optionals are headed to Union County for their first competition of the new year! Good luck!

There have been a few changes in the gym recently.  Makyra (level 4) made the decision to switch gyms and will now be competing for top flight.  We will miss her, but wish her the best of luck at her new gym!  We also have a new Monarch that we welcomed to the team.  She has been with us for a couple of weeks now, so you may have seen her around.  Kira is a level 8 from CGA and will be competing with us for the first time this weekend!

There has also been a change in the practice schedule.  Starting THIS FRIDAY, level 4,5,6,7, and excel will be practicing later (5-7:15pm).  Level 3's are still practicing from 4-6:15.  With the size of our team, it was not beneficial for the coaches or gymnasts to have everyone practicing in the gym at the same time on Fridays.  Please talk to Kristin if there are any conflicts.

There are only four regular season meets left!

January 19- Sidney Shelby
January 26- Great Miami Valley
February 1- Home Meet
February 23- Kettering

Here's some other important dates to keep in mind:
January 12- Team Fundraiser at Skyline (4pm-8pm)- see e-mail that went out
                   for more details
January 17- Picture Order Forms due- pictures will be posted on the
                  shutterfly website by this weekend
January 18- Decorating Party and All Parent Meeting
January 31- Set up for home meet
February 1- Home Meet

If you have any questions about any upcoming events, feel free to contact any of the coaches or board members

Stay warm!
