Coaches Blog

Monarchs,
Welcome back into the gym! I hope everyone enjoyed their Holiday and spending time with the family. There is a ton happening in the gym so please check the Monarch calendar frequently.
Team Pictures:
Friday December 3, 2010
Please send the girls into the gym in their COMPETITION LEOTARD along with "meet hair". Pictures will be at the beginning of practice so we want them prepared. Don't forget to pack a practice leo, right after the team and individual pictures practice will be going on and we want them into another leo. Any other questions regarding forms and due dates please talk to Lora Alberto.
Teammate Secret-Santa were drawn in the gym on Monday. If your gymnast forgets who she has please just come to me and I will inform you. Please remind the gymnast that this is a secret and the fun is lost the other person finds out! Shhh! It's a secret. Christmas party December 10th. Level reps are needed to volunteer for set up.

We welcomed Anna Battoclette into our gym for this entire week. She was the former coach for Blue Ash and is super excited to be in our gym filling in for Laura while she is in Disney World.

Please keep Hannah and the Chai family in your prayers. Hannah just went under surgery but is having a great recovery. We will be welcoming them back next week.

Parent Board Meeting this Friday December 3rd, 2010. All is welcomed.

We still need Home Meet themes, keep thinking!!!

Great Job Monarchs!
We are finished with the first three meets of the season:) PCY kicked butt and now it's time to get back to the basics. I just wanted to say how happy and proud we were to see Coach Denise at Kettering as "Judge" Denise. She did a wonderful job judging her first meet and we can't wait to show off our routines to her again. She was proud of us too:)
We can't slow down now, meets are done for a moment but we still have a full schedule! The calendar is updated so please stay connected with the activities through the Monarch calendar. It will save you from missing out on some great information. Reminder that emails need to go out to Debbie Janakiefski and Jeanette Birkenhauer asap regarding the Spirit wear! This is a very urgent matter and I want to apologize for all of the mess ups. This is a new company and he wasn't quite prepared for our order. Hopefully 3rd times a charm and thank you to those who have already taken care of the matter.
I just wanted to give a quick thanks to our Fund-raising chairs for organized Larosas for us. That was a great fast, and delicious way to raise a buck. We have many more fundraisers coming our way to lets keep our eyes pealed.
Christmas party is around the corner which means the parent level representatives need to come together and help organize the menu and events. I have the Aquatic club room reserved:)
In the gym the girls are thinking of ideas for our home meet theme. This is going to be a big one this year so we really need all hands on deck. For all of the new families we have all been there and we will walk you through everything step by step.
Congratulations to our two Featured Gymnasts: Emily Engel and Kamille Austin. Awesome job ladies, keep up the good work. :)

A big thanks to all the Monarch parents and family members for showing your support and following meet etiquette. One more meet to go and then back in the gym for regrouping and goal settings. Good luck to all of competitors this weekend, may we be injury free and most importantly have fun:)

All compulsory level team awards are taken from the three highest scores on each event. Optional level team awards are taken from the top two scores. Our level 6,7 and prep optionals do not qualify for team awards. :(

Preparation For Competition Season!

One of the ways our coaches try to get the gymnasts ready for the up coming competition is mentally preparing ourselves. Not only do we need to get our bodies strong we also need to get our minds strong. The girls have been presenting weekly devotions, our theme of the month is Self-Discipline. So far 2 girls have shared their ideas on what Self-Discipline means to them. Here is a quote from Emily Andersen's explaination. "One word, Obedience. Try to make self-discipline a thing you always do and life would be much easier."
Beck Palmer also got a quote from Plato, "The first and best victory is to conquer yourself" In Gymnastics we talk a lot about how we are our biggest competition. We are also striving to get better through practicing hard and a positive attitude within ourselves and teammates. In order to achieve our goals in and out of the gym we need self discipline. Great Job ladies:)

Featured Gymnast: The gymnast who receives this honor throughout the year will be the girls with a good attitude, one who is working to get better at their personal goals while cheering on other teammates. This Gymnast may be nominated by another gymnast or a coach. We have a picture of the Featured Gymnast on the board in the gym along with a mini Biography. The first gymnast to receive this honor is Rachel Massie! Congrats

First Post

Hello Monarchs!
This is a very busy and exciting time for us. I wanted to welcome our new coach Bekah Grossmann to the team. Bekah is a former Monarch that spent her entire High school career competing YMCA Gymnastics. She currently attends the University of Cincinnati and is super excited about working with the level 4s and starting a new chapter of her life right here at PCY. Bekah will be taking over for Julian within the next couple of weeks. Although Julian will be missed he won't be a stranger in our gym and has really enjoyed his year with us. We wish him well.
Don't forget about the Mandatory Parent Meeting Friday August 13th in the Multi-Purpose room immediately following practice. I look forward to seeing everyone there.

Uniform Sizing

Monday, August 2nd 2010
  • All gymnasts must bring all uniform pieces including: Jacket, Pants, Leo, and Undergarment(s)
  • Wear your practice leo and bring everything else into the gym on a hanger or plastic bag at the beginning of practice and we will do sizing after the equipment is set up.
  • Make sure your name is in everything.
  • Wear underwear!
  • I may need your uniform to size someone else

If you will not be at Sizing please let Kristin know ASAP kbutsch@cincinnatiymca.org

Monarch Uniform Information

The following is this year’s 2010 uniform payment policy.
  • Used pieces will be sold for half of the new price.
  • If you are buying from someone currently on the team and you have sufficient funds in your family account you may pay within the family account system.
  • If you are buying used from someone no longer on the team or you do not have sufficient funds in your family account you must pay the seller directly.
  • If you are buying new you can charge it to your family account. If you currently have funds to cover the order it will be deducted. If you do not have enough currently, but plan on fundraising during the season a debit may be carried until December at which time your account must be settled.
  • After everyone has accepted the used pieces I will give each family a “bill”. It will tell you who you owe and how much and who owes you. I will try to get with Debbie to let you know if account transfers are possible or not.

Any questions please call or email Kristin kbutsch@cincinnatiymca.org or Debbie Janakiefeski, djanakiefski@yahoo.com.
